Weekends Results, Wellbeing Day & Rishton 1st’s derail Walsdens Title Push.

On Saturday the 4th XI took on the 3rd XI, and the club hosted a Wellbeing and Cancer Awareness day.

On the field the 4th’s had a decisive victory,  winning by 113 runs. The 3rd’s won the toss and elected to field, a decision they probably regret as opener Paul Clifford went on to score 108 from 115 balls including 12 fours and 4 sixes. He was assisted through the innings by Stuart Roberts (30),  Ben Hacking (26) and Neil Wells (21).

When the 3rd’s batted only Adam Hussain (19) and Sahan Senepathi (28) managed to get into double figures scoring just 97 in reply to the 4th’s 210 for 7.

Off the field there were over 100 surveys taken and the organisers were very happy with how the day went.

On the Sunday the 1st XI hosted Walsden CC who are flying high in the league. Rishton won the toss and elected to field.

Walsden started well with the bat, scoring 71 runs before the first wicket fell, opener Nick Barker being dismissed lbw by Brad Boddie, quickly followed by Jake Hooson caught by Boddie off the bowling of Keiren Grimshaw with the score on 72.

Opener Josh Gale went on to score 70 assisted by Joe Gale (43)and Walsden finishing on 158 for9 from their 50 overs. For Rishton young Adam Hussain took 5 wickets for 24 off 10 overs and pro Grinshaw took 3 for 51 off 12.

Rishton didn’t start well with the bat with Richard Fox being dismissed with the score on 11, and then fellow opener Josh Whitehead (17) going with the score on 35.

In a rain interrupted innings Rishton found themselves needing 147 to win from 42 overs, and with pro Grimshaw going on to score 53, Hussain (13) and Jack Hilton finishing on 27no from 26 balls Rishton achieved their target with a ball to spare.

Meanwhile away at Walsden the 2nd XI were facing a tough match when in their 45 overs Walsden went on to score 241 for 8, with Faz Khan scoring 94 from 68 balls including 5 fours and 8 sixes.

When Rishton batted it always looked like they would struggle especially when they found themselves 16 for 2 with both openers gone. However with Miya Lunat scoring 83 and Matt Nuttall 42, and then captain Josh Brown finishing on 26no Rishton scored a credible 213 for 8 from their 45 overs, not quite getting there in the end, but a very determined effort all the same.
